The Power of Love

29-Jan-12

The Power of Love

Our society in turmoil, reaching far and wide,
Every nation, city & village, with nowhere to hide.
War, violence & oppression, seem to be the norm,
Global economic crisis, adding strength to the storm.

Debt hangs over our heads, what can we do,
Is this world what we want, for our children too?
Leaders try new ideas, hope & change have no chance,
With no cooperation, & an oppositionist stance.

Elections are sideshows, each trying to score,
Points with negativity, one liners and more.
Monopolization & greed cause all manner of strife.
Most slaves to making a living, rather than a life.

We can fix it all I am certain, raise our species higher,
We lack not resources or ability, simply the desire.
Erase all global debt, with the mere stroke of a pen,
Rid ourselves of this burden, if not now, when?

Give everyone, everything, they need to survive,
And our limitless potential, will more than thrive.
All disease, crime and violence, will surely disappear,
When people replace profit, and love replaces fear.

Some say a Utopian dream, that reality would rival,
But I call it our only, real chance of survival.
My wish for our children, that they may fly like a dove.
May the love of power yield, to the Power of Love.

The Deadliest Religion

13-May-11

Extremists of many creeds, are regularly in the news,
Destruction, death and fear, the methods they choose.
At times they may possess, points that make sense,
But the message is lost, amidst all the violence.

Be you Muslim or Hindu or Christian or Sekh.
No religion’s more deadly, than of which I speak.
No matter the faith, what they first must do,
before praising their God, is praise this religion too.

This religion spares none, with its lies and illusions,
we are but its faithful slaves, my only conclusion.
It robs us of our freedom, our health and sanity,
halts all our progress and disables technology.

This religion creates, all stress, disease & fear,
poisons our waterways and pollutes atmosphere.
Unless we revisit, reconstruct or release.
its firm grip on us, shall never cease.

This religion can be tamed, all hope isn’t lost,
we made it all up, never considering the cost.
Given away our power, to a mere thought,
that some deserve more, the pain it has brought.

We can build a new future of freedom and ease,
create a new world, of endless possibilities.
End this religion, poison the fertile sod,
for the religion of profit, where money is god!

Future Hope

01-Feb-11

Generations from now, perhaps several, perhaps few,
An Angel returns home, unsure what to do.
On the way home from school, she changed routine,
Now feeling uneasy, unsure what she has seen.

Through the open door, of her comfortable home,
Her loving parents greet her, she is not alone.
Good day precious daughter, what have you to say,
Your expression seems strained, are you troubled today?

This day I read historic books, thought it would be fun,
To learn of life’s ways, in early century 21.
first I thought them fiction, could this really be true,
war, violence, disease, & oppression too.

Our mischievous little Angel, we are sorry to hear,
you’ve read of such things, but you’ve nothing to fear.
Elders consult these books , so they always know,
Of the direction our species, can never again go.

We abandoned long ago, violence & destruction,
Peace & cooperation, now society’s construction.
We learned these ingredients, to be so essential,
To ensure all can rise, to their fullest potential.

So do not worry sweet daughter, do not be upset,
You are safe, free and secure, don’t ever forget.
Your potential unlimited, you will more than survive,
It is your birthright, to dream & grow & thrive.

Below are some suggested organizations that work toward making our world a better place.
We can make the above scenario a reality. It’s the least we can do for our kids!

Be Peace

16-Dec-09

In the papers of late, do appear,
News of devastation, both far and near.
Hurricanes, tsunami, earthquake and war,
Cause personal and planetary tension to soar.

Where will it end? Does it all seem lost?
Will the end of our species, be the ultimate cost?
We have the technology, it could be too late,
If violence and fear, we do escalate.

I’ve looked over the mountain, seen the promised land.
We can rise above it all, peace close at hand.
Our deliverer has come to proclaim the news,
A joyful future is assured, if unity we choose.

Where is this deliverer? For you see none.
Who would convince humanity, we are all One?
Who would have the ability, who would be the source,
Of such consciousness, what enlightened force?

Look into any mirror and you will find,
Such a deliverer, so strong of mind.
You need not wait for another, these things to do,
For you are the force, it is all within you.

Overwhelmed by the task? The order too tall?
You need not cure the planet, feel free to start small.
Be peace in all you do, with compassion & love be free
Come from your heart always, be the change you wish to see.

I Miss You

14-Dec-09

You are a forgotten refugee of a war torn land,
displaced and hungry, possessions in hand.
You are ravaged by disease, the future unsure,
If only funds were present, so would the cure.

You’re in poverty’s grip, flooding your hear,
how to feed family, provide a roof and a bed.
Oppressed due to gender, creed region or race,
your generations have had, this burden to face.

Needless suffering endured, for far too long,
When will humanity see, we’ve got it all wrong.
Not money, nor possessions or power are source,
you are our finest asset, earth’s greatest resource!

If only you were granted, the opportunity to thrive,
You would achieve much more, than barely survive.
What song would you sing, what novel would you write,
To rise is not a privilege, but your God given right!

What would you invent, what disease would you cure?
Your lost potential cheats all, of this I’m sure.
So I try in small ways, the paradigm to shift,
To change hearts and minds, and hope to uplift.

My efforts are small, of them what will be?
I doubt I could do enough, to truly set you free.
These feeble words I write, in the hope that its true,
Somehow you know, how very deeply, I miss you

Brand New Day

06-Dec-09

The planet at peace now, for many a year,
No battles raging, no one living in fear.
Air and water, are once again pure,
Of daily existence, all people are sure.

Everyone is sheltered, clothed and well fed,
All have comfortable places, in which to rest their head.
Poverty unheard of, why did it ever exist?
Should have known sooner, it was so easily fixed.

Disease so rare, most have all been cured,
Wellness and healthcare, all people are assured.
It was all so simple, we just could not see,
All things can be achieved, when everyone is free.

Our priorities rearranged, at long last we know,
Everyone needs the opportunity, to thrive and grow.
Money no longer our God, used to oppress the other,
Each woman seen as our sister, each man, our brother.

Though the above is not, the world you’re currently in,
It can’t be just a fable, written by Brothers Grimm.
Some would say it must, be seen to be believed,
It is truly your belief, that will cause it conceived.

I’ve experienced enough, of this world to know,
Of no other solution, no other way to go.
This world we must build, please won’t you say,
You’ll create for our children, this brand new day.
